Additive manufacturing is a technology that has been developing at an increasing speed for the last few years in all fields and especially in industry. Laser fusion, resin polymerisation, Fused Deposition Modeling, powder bed printing… many processes in response to a host of specific applications.
Our profession, that of investment casting, has not escaped from this revolution. Effectively, almost all of our clients use printed models, instead of injected models, to enable a process to be fine-tuned, or to produce small runs of parts without having to invest in an injection mold.
Instead of considering these developments as a threat to its business, Moules et Outillages de Bourgogne has chosen to seize the opportunity to expand on its range of services.
Having adhered to the accompaniment program CORIIN, offered by CETIM (Technical Centre for Mechanical Industry), we worked with experts in commercial and technical strategy throughout 2017 to target the needs and expectations of our clients in this field.
Following this, at the beginning of 2018, we took the decision to launch into this new adventure. We will very soon be able to offer PMMA printing thanks to the VX1000 machine by VOXELJET.
We expect to link this equipment to a 3D scan and digitalisation system to control our printed models, but also to add a further means of evaluating our wax injection molds and to respond to the various needs of reverse engineering. Further information will follow on this subject…
