Zoom on the CAM department

To produce tools for the investment casting, a specialty of « Moules et Outillages de Bourgogne », the “study and design” phase is of course essential (see our article of last month https://moules-outillages-bourgogne.com/en/zoom-design-office/) and we are recognized by our customers for the quality of these.

But what good would “beautiful studies” be without a production team up to the task?

After validation of our designs by our customers, it all starts with CAM (computer-aided manufacturing). This is provided by 4 employees who, using the WORK NC software, will define the ranges and machining strategies.

All tool paths, cutting conditions, tools…. will thus be defined. Beyond a simple programming of toolpaths, it is the entire machining methodology that must be considered. On the quality of this will depend the quality and the good realization of the parts on the machines. This operation can therefore only be entrusted to machining specialists. And this is indeed the case at « Moules et Outillages de Bourgogne », since all of our programmers have long experience and strong skills as operators on numerically controlled machines. Most of them are still versatile between these 2 functions.

Soufyan Saghiry, CAM programmer within our company:

“We are the second link in the chain in the development of tools. Our job is to study the part and create machining paths that are optimized in terms of time and precision. What I enjoy most about my job is being able to follow the piece and imagine how it was made in its entirety. “
